binutils-msp430 software package provides Binary utilities supporting TIs MSP430 targets, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install binutils-msp430
binutils-msp430 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the binutils-msp430 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep binutils-msp430 *
